On the morning of 2nd grade Rosie and I made big sister some blueberry waffles with maple syrup and whipped cream.
1 3/4 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
12 tsp salt
1 3/4 cup milk
2 large eggs
6 tbsp butter, melted, and slightly cooled
2 small handfuls of blueberries
stir dry ingredients together in a bowl, whisk together wet ingredients in a separate bowl, combine the wet and dry ingredients and the blueberries. Add 1 1/2 ladles full of batter to the hot/ greased waffle iron, cook for 5 minutes.
I always have extra waffles left over so I wrap them in waxed paper and plastic wrap and freeze them for a snack on another day.
Any who, after our breakfast of champions we had a routine photo shoot in the backyard, Angel chose to pose in between the gladiolas she planted a few years ago.
She gave her teacher the apple which I think truly set the tone for the year, she loves giving friendship to everyone, shes never met a person she wasn't friends with.
When I picked her up after school she didn't want to leave, she wanted to stay all day in her new classroom with her old friends and new teacher. I think its going to be a good year! Now what to do with all my free time? :-)

How sweet! I love first day of school photos. The outfits are always so special. I still have a book of all of my first day photos...and we're talking from many, many years ago!!
I don't think you'll have any problem filling your time! And I bet Angel comes home each day with lots of stories. Here's to 2nd grade.
Second grade was a wonderful year for me--my teacher was Mrs. Hill! I'd never heard her first name, qhcih was Eunice, before, but she was a special, special teacher. Here's to Angel's new teacher!
By the way, qucih is a magical term for "which": I'd never heard her first name, WHICH was Eunice. It's amazing the words you can come up with when your fingers aren't quite lined up in the proper place on the keyboard...
Oh, how I love 'First Day of School' photos - but I like your idea of the 'backward shot'. Very cute! xoxo the fan
So sweet! Yesterday was my girl's first day of preschool, and even though it's not the first time she's had a "first" day of school (3rd) - I still cried. What I didn't do was take a picture! Thank you for reminding me - this time it will have to be a 2nd Day of School pic.
You have a beautiful family.
Laurie
I think Angel's inherited her mom's very cool sense of style. You've always had a wonderful and a unique style and Angel does too. I love her first day of school photos.
I've heard already that things are off to a great start, and that she loves her teacher.
